International Astronautical Congress - 2007, Hyderabad, India

The 58th
International Astronautical Congress 2007 was inaugurated at
HICC with the traditional flavour of Indian cultural ensemble.
the opening ceremony of the Congress was attended by the
Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr.
Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, Shri Prithviraj Chauvan, Honorable
Union Minister of State (PM's Office), Dr. G.Madhavan Nair,
Chairman, ISRO and President Astronautical Society of India (ASI),
Dr. James V. Zimmerman, President, IAF, Prof. Edward C.Stone,
President, IAA, Dr. Nandasiri Jasentuliyana, President, IISL
and a Galaxy of chiefs of Global Space Agencies, Space
Scientist and Technocrats.
The Chief
Minister of Andhra Pradesh, in his address, expressed his
happiness on holding this prestigious event at Hyderabad. He
pointed out that the congregation of the National and
International Space professionals, leaders and policy makers
on a common platform present during the occasion, signifies
the International goodwill in the peaceful use of outer space
and strengthens out trust in the common objectives of the
worldwide space community. While appreciating the efforts of ASI, ISRO, IAF, IAA and IISL for organising the congress, he
emphasized that space system have been playing an increasingly
important role all over the globe, helping to benefit humanity
through national and international development efforts, the
use of advanced technologies and the creation of space assists.
Acknowledging the social benefits brought out by ISRO in the
State of Andhra Pradesh, he expressed his confidence that this
week-long congress will offer a comprehensive platform for the
great minds from the global Space industry, academic
researchers and young professionals worldwide to present and
to deliberate upon contemporary ideas, prevailing activities
and future aspirations across a diverse range of Space-related
topics with prominence given to societal benefits.
Dr. Madhavan
Nair, while welcoming the galaxy of Space professionals,
was confident that the congress would be useful and
informative to all the delegates, and would provide enough
opportunity for the International audience to know about the
Indian Space Programme and interact with the Indian
Counterparts. Dr Madhavan Nair also inaugurated the IAC-2007
Space Expo, being held at HITEX venue.
